About Brainwave Stimulation and Brainwave States
Auditory and visual stimulation (AVS) is a method of personal development that has evolved over more than two decades from the study and use of biofeedback; a training procedure that can enable a person to alter physiological responses to induce a desired state of mind.

In biofeedback, the object for the individual is to deliberately try to calm or train mental activity. With AVS, passive inducement occurs without the conscious effort of the individual. We have combined both passive and active modalities to quickly train you to enter deep states of relaxation.

Our brain operates primarily in four brainwave states. These states range from being wide awake and active, the beta brainwave state, to the calm, focused alpha state, and the creative, deeply meditative theta state, down to low wave, deep, dreamless, restorative sleep; the delta brainwave state.

BRAINWAVE STATES

BETA frequencies are measured from approximately 13 to 40 Hertz (Hz) or cycles per second. Low to moderate amplitude beta corresponds to our normal waking state of alertness where the vast majority of routine thinking and physical functioning occur. High amplitude, fast beta generally reflects a state of heightened anxiety or stress, and feelings of agitation and discomfort due to mental over-activity.

ALPHA – 8 to 13 Hz.
This represents the calm state associated with external attention and focused awareness. Among its properties, alpha wave generation provides mental rejuvenation, accelerated learning and deep relaxation.

THETA – 4 to 8 Hz.
This represents the deeply relaxed state of free flowing inward focus. It is also the deep, advanced meditation state and the seat of the creative process.

I’ve also bought the original MindSpa Hasten’s edition and I am using it when I need to get away from stress and become even more creative. This application introduces the element of biofeedback in a very smart way that really adds to the whole experience. My only complaint is that the duration of the session is small …. The session ends with a promise for more sessions from MindSpa in the future.
My verdict: A must have app for all iPhone and iTouch users….
